Instituto Opus (Opus Institute) was created by Sobratema for the training, updating and licensing of equipment operators and their supervisors by providing study and practice in the use of construction equipment. Since its foundation, Instituto Opus has trained and certified more than 6,400 employees for over 490 companies in Brazil. Opus has also provided training in Venezuela, Libya, Mozambique and Dominican Reuplic The courses offered by Opus follow the same standards adopted by the most internationally acknowledged institutes for the teaching and certification of equipment operators. Opus perfectly meets the objectives set by Sobratema - an organization established 20 years ago by professionals with an interest in sharing the best of man’s knowledge according to that which is at the base of its institutional foundation: mankind and its relationship with equipment. The courses offered by Opus are of varying lengths and the prerequisites for participation in most of the courses are, basically, a category “D” national driver’s license, certificate of health and conclusion of elementary education for equipment operators and a secondary school education for other courses. By becoming involved in the training, updating and certification of equipment operators, Sobratema seeks to build a bridge aimed at closing the gap between the present technical level and skills of Brazil’s equipment operators and the latest, most advanced technology available in the world today.
